Best of 2013

Best of 2013

Hello, it is me again to bring you my final blog of 2013. Doesn’t time fly by these days.

Best of 2013
Best of 2013

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas break.

As there weren’t many jobs advertised I got to watch Christmas themed shows or films past or present. I haven’t even finished watching Only Fools and Horses specials. Funny enough the first thing I watched on Christmas Day was a Christmas special of Doc Martin, (only seen it once before), it didn’t really look like a Christmas special but I wish it done more of them.

What a year it’s been, United capturing the Premier League title back, Wigan winning the FA Cup against Man City, Swansea winning the League cup, Bayern Munich winning the treble, Brazil winning the Confederations Cup , Andy Murray winning Wimbledon, the royal birth of George and Denmark winning Eurovision. It’s been a memorable year hasn’t it?

Did anyone watch the Doctor Who christmas special? I certainly did. I may sound like a geek when saying this but I have recently become a fan of Doctor Who, well when I say recently I watched all the episodes since Matt Smith first appeared as the Doctor, I believe it was either when they first launched BBC iPlayer or HD on iPlayer. It was very interesting to see how it would unfold in the episode. I thought the spoilers of Peter Capaldi coming on the show would mean that he would appear during the latter part of the show or well 15 minutes of tv time but it did seem that as expected in most of the regenerations of the Doctor that it would only be a small clip during the end. Overall I thought it was ok, I thought it was quite strange of the Doctor to keep the cyberman’s head and talking to it. I thought that although it did keep the theme of Christmas in the episode. I thought it was nice to see the Doctor reminsing of his old companion but only for a blink to see his face change.

Onto farewells. I’m sure Nelson Mandela’s death recently will be greatly missed around the world. It was sad to see some cricket greats retiring and stepping out the game this year including Sachin, Grahame Swann, Michael Hussey at the beginning of the year and just recently Jacque Kallis.

I think I have grown frustrated in Englands performance down in Australia, I do expect them to lose 5-0 because I don’t see how the team can be lifted in time for the next test match to be honest. I would love to been in Durban for the final day of the test because I have been following the test match between South Africa and India and they are giving out free admission as well although I do expect that the test match will be a draw but at least it is good cricket to pass the time.

From what I have seen I think Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest football club manager of all time. It was by Ferguson that I  regularly followed football, watched, liked and excited about hearing about the football every week on Match of the Day. I like to say I followed them at the right time, I can’t remember what my first memory was but I played some old football pc games and I was playing as Man U all the time, around 99/00 or something and the players he used to put on like Beckham, Scholes, Nevilles, Butts, Sheringham, Soksjaer, Cole, Yorke, Irwin, Keane. They had really good quality players and most of names I mentioned are English players. Apart from likes of United and Liverpool not many teams have many english or young players in their ranks.  Nothing has changed my mind on supporting a different team ever since.

I would describe Scholes as one of the great midfielders in World Football. He is up there with likes of Zidane, Davids, Pirlo, Figo, Xavi, Iniesta, Gerrard, Lampard, Alonso. My tribute to him that he was someone who would do his talking on the pitch, score great goals outside the penalty area and had the ability to pick passes. My favorite goal of his was the one against Bradford city, how he hit that first time is beyond me. Both Scholes and Ferguson’s retirements would rank up as the dramatic moments of the year, it just speaks volumes.

Talking about the best moments of 2013, my personal high was graduating with a bachelors degree. I thought it was a great accomplishment  to have been on stage shaking hands with the Chancellor and then getting my certificate at the end.  Although two years ago if you said to me that I would pass my course then I would probably not have believed  you.

Well as the beginning of 2014 is days away I don’t have any real or realistic expectations or aims coming into the new year. I said this time last year that I was going to start an online business up on eBay but I haven’t really touched on that idea since the beginning of this year or I find it too risky really. I’m not going say for definite what my plans are but it would be really nice to join a quiz team or get to be on a quiz show, if you are looking for someone to join then I’m open to that idea, I expect many quiz teams to be averaging in their mid 30s and to have expertise in different areas. It would be good of me to start cricket again, hopefully things can go right for me this time and that I can practice more often and get to enjoy it more and play other sports as well. I do fancy a luxurious holiday somewhere like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa or even somewhere in the UK. I don’t want to make it sound desperate but it would be a wonderful experience  if I spent a vacation or even a weekend break or on something new without my family this year. As I am unemployed it would be nice to find a permanent role at a job that I would enjoy and do well in.

I shall be watching Jools on the evening of New Year’s Eve with a bottle of Bailey’s with milk listening to live music along with watching fireworks on TV.

Speaking of the new year I shall be looking forward to the football world cup in Brazil, the Eurovision Song Contest, the footie, New Series of Doctor Who, India’s five test series in England, curries and much much more.

A short few days before Christmas

Hey! Thanks for taking the time viewing my sixth blog. Doesn’t time fly by these days. By the time I have published this blog it will only be three days before Christmas Day, quite scary to think about it really. Especially when it comes to last minute shopping, it would be like finding a passage to India.

You may have wanted to come here to search for answers to my life at the moment or in search for ideas or suggestions. At least it is a ideal place, like myself I always turn to Google, just now I typed in “does cola cola make you drunk” or “how to start freelance”. I never usually get the answers I wanted and I never really understood freelance apart from the popularity comes from the world of photography, espically if you haven’t picked up a camera for a while or maybe it can be too expensive to buy a new camera would explain it really cause no one wants cheap photos really do they? People look for quality these days. Obviously I haven’t experienced freelancing myself (yet but there could be a possibility in the near future) or maybe I don’t realise that by writing this blog could be freelance. How would you describe freelance? I would describe it as a single idea generated by a creative individual who is a specalisit in there line of work who has the business insight to know how to pitch their idea forward to bring clients forward. Maybe a few people could disagree or agree of my definition.

The whole main purpose of knowing what defines freelancing is quite important of how we interpret themes or subjects and careful to understand what it means to us, I mean how do we define politics? Or even Religion?

Question mark

For me it is a very much an overused term. If someone said to me “What is History?”, I couldn’t give an instant answer to that other than “it is something recorded” and then thirty minutes later I would close the sentence saying “it is something recorded in time” so really I wouldn’t have a clue how to interpret but according to Wikipedia “it is a study of historiography (whatever that means) written by the English historian E.H. Carr” so there you have it,  the point is nothing comes easy to us. I at least know what defines Software Engineering and Computer Science is because I did a degree in my chosen interest. Also I know what defines a database or what a website is. It is quite easy to understand until you get used to hearing those terms quite a lot or it is the same as learning the bones and organs of the human body if you see where I am coming from. I would be quite terrified to get into Politics myself because maybe I would have to bull myself through or let my words speak louder than my actions.

what is history by Edward Carr

So what are my highlights of the week. Well I managed to complete a day’s trial at a small establishment or company office near Ealing which is good to get out of the way to be honest because I mentioned in one of my earlier blogs that I was going to do but I was held back by an illness I caught the day before. It is quite a decent day to be honest, all the staff were very welcoming and polite, I thought that as I was volunteering they were all in there mid 40s or above unless people were getting paid by the council or just paying themselves, that is the feeling I get when I’m doing this line of work. I got instructed by one of the staff of how to use the applications on the computer software and helped out with the filing, it was quite simple being a computer whizz once you are very familiar with computers and how they work, once I completed that I went out for lunch, the annoying thing was that I needed a receipt for my travel expenses so I spend around 45 minutes looking for newsagents or shops in town (there was quite a lot of them actually) that do oyster top ups, I had no success by the end of it but I had enough on my oyster card balance in order to return home. While I came back to their main office I got told how to laminate posters, although this was all new to me I learned how to multitask and do the task in a professional manner which I think I excelled in really and I left 10 minutes earlier than expected.   While I was heading home I went into Sainsburys Local and brought two of the 1.75 litre bottles of Cola, one for me and one for my sister just as a treat as Christmas is coming up.  Looking for work is not as easy as a lot of people find, it tends to be really difficult to graft or to secure a permanent role in a company when their are people out there who are more suited for roles other than myself, I’ve had that feeling since I left uni and I’m sure that some of the majority can sympathise with what I am trying to say, for me it tends to be frustrating when I apply for jobs that don’t give you individual feedback on the application, I think any feedback helps in any environment you walk into because once you are in that position you would want to know a detailed explanation of why you haven’t been chosen, are there any areas which I haven’t described or provided more examples of in the application and what can I do to improve my application. Well I got a vague idea of how I can improve the application which is why for example the retail sector is very hard to apply for cause unless you previous experience of it then it makes it highly unlikely. I saw a post by a person on Facebook this week claiming that nothing should be Impossible or may be interpreted as “I’m possible”. I can’t really find an argument to support that statement unless you speak to a Time lord from Doctor Who.

The news about Grahame Swann’s came as quite a shock really, I didn’t really expect it would have been the right time to retire but as long as he thinks its time then great.

Graham Swann

Obviously he will be a great loss to the national side and I don’t think there is a prepared successor at the moment to take over him. I hope someone like Scott Borthwick eventually succeeds him but I won’t know at this moment in time.

Scott Borthwick

Speaking of cricket, England are in total shambles at the moment, bowling wise it is average but they need a few lessons of how to bat on bouncy wickets cause only one batsman in six innings has scored a 100, only an all rounder who is played in their 2nd knock managed to score a century, shows the disappointment I have considering they were able to bat comfortably the last time they were in Australia. I fear they may lose 5-0 unless they put there act together, although they haven’t won the series they should at least give the Australians a fight. At present I don’t expect England to be in contention with being in contention for the number 1 spot in test cricket.

On the subject of the Number 1 spot, I’m interested to see International teams such as South Africa are currently doing when they play test cricket and I get excited when they play Test Cricket because they have players in their squad which I would like to see especially likes of Smith (who I admired when I first watched cricket over 10 years ago), Hashim Amla, AB De Villers, Kallis, Steyn, Philander and Morkel are all big names in the World of Cricket. I would wish I was in South Africa to see them face India in the test series from a neutral perspective because I don’t only follow England but I like to follow other international teams such as Australia, South Africa, India and sometimes the West Indies because I like World Cricket in general. It was a very exciting day of test match cricket, South Africa only needed eight runs short of winning against India to win, how frustating that it ended up as a draw, who said test cricket is boring. If anyone shares my great love of the game then I’m sure we would enjoy a fun conversation about it.

A picture of the South African Cricket Team

Was anyone surprised to hear that Phil Taylor got knocked out in the Darts World Championship? I have no words to describe it to be honest, although I only follow Darts when it is on BBC it did send big shock waves around, that is why all the contests are decided on the oche and not on paper.

I think it is quite shocking in the world of football of the number of managers that are sacked in the English Premier League. Already we have seen 6 or more premier league teams such as Crystal Palace, Sunderland, Stoke, Tottenham, Fulham, West Brom who have had replacement managers since the Premier league started.

Picture of Martin Jol

I think it is quite favourable for the owners really. Yes clubs have there down points, well look at Man United, I knew that the first moment Moyes walked into the job that it will take time and reasonable investments to develop at United. I still think he is the best man for the job, apart from the decision of buying Fellani, I’m not a person to criticise. Although the start of the season has been on a rocky start here are the positive points: United were top of there champs league group and stand a good chance of going through to the next round, we still in the running of reaching the Carling cup final and we are in a good position of being in the top four, I’m not concerned of not retaining the Premier League title but at least if we get in the top four then that is something I will be joyful about. But going back to the manager’s issue, it is a lot of pressure because it is all about results at the end of the day. But it is not necessary the manager or the coaches fault, some of the responsibility needs to go on the players of how they perform on the day. But then again it is the manager’s job to inspire the players and bring players through who think will improve the club. Apart from Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal I don’t think any of the other clubs have long term plans in mind really.

I’m happy and pleased for Atletico Madrid being top of La Liga, it all goes down to players and staff there. I wouldn’t have been thinking that over three years ago cause they had some exciting talent there. I remember after they won the Europa League they faced Inter Milan who won the champs league in the UEFA super cup, they beat Inter 2-0 and David De Gea emerging himself in the spotlight by saving a penalty off Diego Milito. What people seem to forget is that they had likes of Diego Forlan, Reyes, Aguero, Simao, who are world class.

Atheltic win UEFA super cup

They have great players now with Diego Costa, David Villa, Courtois,  I reckon they are good contenders to win the spanish league and have a good chance of doing well in the Champions league. They come back strong that is what I would say about them.

Picture of Diego Costa

I do feel a bit sorry for Barca who have Messi injured, I think the Spanish Press weren’t too happy when they were potted with Man City in the Champs League, from the neutral’s perspective it should shape up as a memoriable tie. Reminds me very much of United against Madrid last season, I don’t think any of them are prepared to lose but I do see Man City as slight favorites only because psychologically they beat Bayern in there home patch, they are doing well in the Premier League, very tough to play at home and the players and manager would be familiar with Barcelona and playing in the champions league.

I love the spanish commentrators when they say GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone watch the Great Train Robbery on BBC Two this past week? I thought it was very interesting considering it was the greatest crime committed in the sixties, sort of backfired in the end. Just goes to show that money doesn’t win you everything. Reminds me a bit of Diamond Geezer, it was a one off drama starring David Jason where he plays a professional criminal called Des Parker and he does jobs ranging from stealing high valuable jewels to stealing cash out from the county, as it only lasted for one series I’m sure Des got caught and hasn’t done it ever since.

You won’t be surprised if I end up talking about Christmas in this blog because I don’t think there is a better time to talk about it really. Maybe I appear drunk? Not really although I did drink a pint of cola cola just a few hours ago when I was drafting my blog last night.

You may ask what I am doing for Christmas? It is a good moment isn’t it as you are probably tired or growing impatient. It is traditional of me to go to mass on a Christmas morning, it is usually quite comforting because the readings don’t take very long to read. As for after I don’t have any major plans or big plans to go out for a Christmas party or a Christmas meal but I shall be returning to my bedroom where I probably isolate myself from the family in my bedroom watching Christmas movies apart from Christmas dinner of course. I like Christmas dinners because I love sage and onion stuffing, it is the only time of year I have one, I don’t tend to not look forward to having chicken or turkey, I just prefer having more sides like stuffing than the main food, and maybe I’ll treat myself to have a glass of baileys with milk, well it is to celebrate a special occasion isn’t it? I haven’t decided which movies I want to watch yet but I have a guilty pleasure of liking Rom coms, it is not the sort of thing males want to admit to but I think the film genre is very hilarious. I also quite like watching other films with Hugh Grant such as Love Actually and About A Boy, I tend to think that they are best to watch for the occasion. What other christmas specials are there? Oh yeah maybe Mr Bean, Only Fools, A Christmas Carol. I haven’t watched the Grinch but I don’t want to see a film with a person who tries to spoil Christmas. I’ll probably have some family members coming in the evening so it won’t be too bad but it would be nice to do with something different for a change. On the next day I shall be capturing up with some other family members who I only get the opportunity to see once a year so that will be something to look forward to.

Scene from Love Actually

Before I conclude, I wish you a Merry Merry Christmas and I look forward to writing my final blog in 2013.

It’s Me Again !!! Sport on a cutting edge, I shall have to just settle with being on the losing side !!!

It’s Me Again !!! Sport on a cutting edge, I shall have to just settle with being on the losing side !!!

Hello again, I think it is my fifth blog, It seems as tho that the time doesn’t stand still. I only knew that when I was out doing volunteer work on Friday it just seemed as tho 2 hours was 45 minutes.

Have you ever noticed that if you learn something new and then you think to yourself “WOW, that is what I could have thought of weeks ago”. Well that is what happened to me when I was browsing the XL package on Virgin on Demand. It seems as tho I am subscribed to have got Sky on Demand which is strange because I didn’t have the sky sports package apart from Sky Sports News so that was pretty cool to have. Now I’m able to watch a few sky sports programs now such as the Champs League highlights or cricket highlights and sunday live football which is a must for dedicated sports fans. I was watching the best part of Man City vs Arsenal yesterday and the game was very interesting. I would have liked it for Arsenal to win but it is always going to be difficult for a visiting team to win at the Ethiad.

I am looking forward to the Champs League draw tomorrow because it will pick interesting matches which are always going to be tough. As A Man U fan the team won playing badly really, I thought Sharktar played best on the night and I was suprised they came third considering we thrased Leversken 5-0 at Leversken. I do have little sympathy for Man City and Arsenal. Arsenal had the toughest completing against Napoli and the runners up in Dortmund. If they thought that was tough then they might as well watch out for Barcelona, Bayern, PSG or Real Madrid. As long as United avoid Milan or Galatasary then I will be satisfied. Champs league draw

I will be waiting patiently to see who will win BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year, I think Murray should get it cause there hasn’t been any man from Great Britain that has won Wimbledon for over 70 years. It does seem quite embrassing and depressing that we haven’t had an Englishman since Fred Perry to win the title considering we first held the Grand Slam in 1877 and won by Spencer Gore at the All England Club. I won’t be surprised if Chris Froome comes second, strange that two buses come at once, I’m referring to the expression that two of the last winners of the Tour de France are British related, they weren’t orginally british, you can say the same for around half of the English Cricket Team.

Did anyone see Derren Brown’s Great Art Robbery on Friday night or from catch up? I thought it was really good and interesting. For those who haven’t watched it and want to see it I won’t reveal too much other than it based on a Art Robbery. I have heard of a guy who stole the Mona Lisa painting from the Louve once, he probably wanted to do that so that he can restore pride to his country. Why would I not say any spoilers, well it is completely unfair to those who want to watch it. All I can say is have your eye appealed to the screen.

It is not really a painting

3 weeks till Christmas !!!

3 weeks till Christmas !!!

I would like to apologise for those viewers who read my Facebook post yesterday for my misinterpretation.

I also want to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela for the way he rebuilt South Africa for equality.

Nelson Mandela

I watched most of the tv coverage of the UK Championship on the BBC. People often say they aren’t interested in sport especially likes of Snooker, Cricket, Tennis, Badminton, Squash etc. I find those sports to be quite exciting, maybe people see it that way cause it is tiring and nothing dramatic happens until another two or three hours when it is 15 minutes before finishing time.  I found that out when I looked up Indoor Cricket on YouTube for fun, I mean I don’t get it, it is really difficult to explain if you are not a cricket fan. You play the game in a cage like atmosphere and to be honest I don’t know anything more apart from what I just told you if I’m boring you I’m sorry.

Back to the snooker having 120 people playing at the Barbarian in York does seem packed and uncomfortable for the top 16 snooker players.  I think it is ok for a Top 16 player to criticise the whole setup but I think it is unfair for the for the people outside the top 50 because they have to play at least 5 or 6 matches to qualify so they are already tired before they reach the 1st round and it is a chance for sportsman to make a name of themselves and has an opportunity to learn if they are good enough that they can complete with people at the top of the rankings. People forget that amateurs or less known people can be underestimated, I will discuss this when I talk about the World Cup Draw that took place friday just gone. Take Wimbledon for example, I remember that time where Rafael Nadal got knocked out in the 1st round by Steve Darcis and people were talking about it the day after and also Roger Federer got knocked out in the 2nd round by Stakhovsky from the Ukraine, obviously it would be a shame not to see well known faces but life moves on.

Neil Robertson

I was very excited when I was watching the final, both were evenly matched.I would have predicted that Selby would win 10-9 over Robinson but that wasn’t the case, it had tension, pressure and momentum switched both sides. It did feel like I was watching Manchester United in a Champs League final, I just covered my eyes or throw my hands back to say if Rooney missed a goal opportunity. But Selby was leading 6-3 at the first half but Robinson managed to come and win 10-7. Strange game isn’t it?

I shall be looking forward to the Masters which is in a months time but if I’m not going to be mistaken I’m going to be a little bit sad on the first day it starts because they usually do the darts final on the same day in the early part of the afternoon so probably in that week’s blog don’t be surprised if I go on about Darts. At least it is something to look forward to after the new year i suppose.

Where to start about the England Cricket Team. I’m just glad I haven’t wasted my money on a DayPass or paying a fee on the Sky Sports package or else I would be wasting my time. There performance in the first two tests have been an embrassment, i don’t expect England to win the series from here, it just a shambles really, i’m predicting a 5-0 australian whitewash unless England sort their batting department.  I’m certainly not going to preorder the latest Ashes series, to be honest I’ve only got the Ashes 2010/2011 collection in Australia and the famous 2005 ashes series.

I’m also glad that I made the right decision not to preorder Ashes 2013 video game on PC cause I found an article on the BBC website, I noticed it was advertised during the summer on Amazon, I wanted to get it but now I’m relieved really cause I seen the gameplay review from IGN, I wouldn’t be suprised if people chose to pre order it cause cricket fans want to play cricket video games. The commentary was ok, I couldn’t help but laugh at Bumble and that the people in the stadium look like a piece of lego, the ball tends to disappear after it goes past the batman just like watching magic tricks on the screen, it must have a lot of bugs but the game is really unacceptable to be honest.

TOP TIP Always be cautious of what you buy, If you watched Fake Britain on BBC One then you understand where I’m coming from. I found an article that grabbed my attention a few days ago about a guy from Nottingham who supposedly paid £450 for an Xbox One through Ebay and then got a photograph of the Xbox One through the post. I think now he is lucky enough to get a refund and a new Xbox One.

XBox One photograph

You may have noticed my beloved Manchester United are not on a winning streak. I wasn’t expecting United to come away with any trophies this season but I am disappointed at how the squad are playing really. Would like to see some big and exciting names coming to United in January, (shouln’t have brought Fellani in the first place). Hope they put the past behind them when they face Shakhtar this Tuesday. I wasn’t too concerned about the FA Cup draw but the match against Swansea shouldn’t be taken lightly, Arsenal-Tottenham match should be interesting match but I do expect Arsenal to come away with the win.

Once the FIFA World Cup Draw had concluded I found it wasn’t going to be easy but I think England will appreciate the challenge to face likes of Italy,Uruguay and Costa Rica.  As a fan who wouldn’t be excited about the prospect of facing competitive teams. I generally think you can’t really decide teams on paper, in the last world cup we classed as favourites to come first in the group but came second the US in the group so I think if England believe in themselves and the fans are behind them then all and get the right results then who knows. I would rather face big teams earlier on to see if they have what it takes to be favorites. Overall I think the teams in Groups B and G will be the hardest to get out of. My favourites to win the World Cup next year are Brasil.

They have a lot of talented players in their team with likes of Neymar, Oscar, Fred, Ramires, Luiz, Dani Alves, Paulinho, Dante, Thiago Silva, Hulk, Marcelo and back up players. I watched the Confederations Cup final this year when they faced Spain and Brazil totally dominated them the whole match and played as a team. I think Germany should do well with squad in numbers along with Argentina and Belgium.

Brasil Football Team

Around less than two years ago I found a song by accident on YouTube called Ai Se Eu Te Pego, ok the name does sound really foreign and maybe the song is sung in Portuguese. I’ve listened to it a couple of times cause it is very addicting over and over again and the lyrics tend to repeat as well. I’m not suggesting you learn a foreign language to understand the lyrics, apparently he recorded an English version but I don’t think it has the same affect, he has done with separate remixes with Pitbull and Becky G, I even seen Neymar and C.Ronaldo dance to it, it is quite easy to learn the dance moves.

Haven’t been unwell this week cause of one of those annoying stomach pain, it can be such a curse really.

Abdominical Pain

I had it the day before my trial so I wasn’t able to come in that day or for my Thursday and Friday shift where I work at a local museum. I had it one time at the start of this year, I couldn’t study for that week so I only had like three days at the beginning of the year to revise for an in class test, it was disappointing and very frustrating to deal with that at the wrong time, life sucks when that happens.

Around this time last week my pain had begun and since then I haven’t applied for jobs. But as I am writing this post I am browsing through windows on Chrome to look at job positions. I spotted a very tempting internship for a WordPress website developer but that is based in Luton, it is over 30 mile away from where I am writing this post now. If you know any job websites that do entry-level positions apart from Guardian Jobs, Inspiring Interns, Internwise and Gumtree then contact me on Facebook, that will be quite helpful.

That’s all folks, See you back here next week!!!

24 Days till Christmas!!!

24 Days till Christmas!!!

I’m back with my third blog. Thank you for all the views I received from the last blog. We managed to get 65 views on one day which is remarkable really. Hope we can up the views.

Christmas is coming up so quick and fast. I noticed this cause it is already the 1st of December.  I have some ideas of what to buy but I haven’t brought anything yet.

So what have I been up to this week, you might ask ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

In terms of employment, I’m glad to say I have a day’s trial at a company on Tuesday, it is only a six weeks of volunteering but then again it might lead to a permanent role. I won’t say much about it for the moment but I hope that everything goes well on the day. I was a bit disappointed when I heard that I wasn’t passed on to an interview for a company based near Farrington although it was kind of them to send me a formal letter than to get an email. I didn’t mention it when I said I was sightseeing in my first blog because I wanted to leave hints along the way or maybe I should have said my intention was in my previous blog.

I have also started an online course involving “England in the time of Richard III”. I have quite enjoyed so far. I have started the first week learning about the Wars of the Roses. So you have got two royal houses called the House of York and the House of Lancaster, think of it like the cricket teams of Yorkshire and Lancashire were engaged in a series of battles battling to be the head of county cricket. If you are interested in learning about British Monarchs then I seriously recommend it. If you want to know more then either get hold of me on Facebook or leave a comment below this post. The website I do this course from also do courses in Forensics for those who like criminal investigation, programming games in Java, dentistry, just to name a few from some good universities.

I’m also doing an online course from Yale in Early Modern England under the Tudors and Stuarts, I’m beginning to sound like David Starkey lol, they do courses open to anyone (even if you don’t study at Yale) ranging from American History, Chemistry, Economics and many more. It’s quite enjoyable so far, they do the lectures on YouTube and also have a manuscript of the lectures can be found along with reading materials, it is what I expected of university standard.

I’ve been doing the usual volunteer work this week at the local museum. I received a call back about the Website Manager role on Friday, I applied for the Website Manager months back but we only have small discussions in between. I wrote some posts in the beginning of the role but it didn’t prove to be entirely useful at the time because there wasn’t a Facebook link on there main website. It is about time to update the website really, it does look like it was published in the 90s. I do feel this is a very challenging role for myself because I am not an expert with developing or managing websites, I done a web application in my final year but this is focused on updating a website, as I am the only person to have volunteered for this role (as far as I’m aware) I probably won’t get the support or advice I would be after or in other words there is no one I can go to in the company who can answer questions I may have. I did get an example to give me an idea of what they want on the site. For this role it is like doing a final year project all over again,

If I ever play a game of snooker it would take me at least 45 minutes to sink all the balls down or longer depending how many times I use the bridge. I only follow the three big tournaments which are held in the UK which is the UK Championship (likely to be watching this while writing this blog), Worlds and Masters, sometimes I like to follow the Welsh Open as well depending on if it is on the BBC Sport website. I don’t know if it is just me but it seems like I’m into pub sports such as Pool, Snooker and Darts and Quizzes on the Quiz machine apart from Drinking games, I don’t consider myself drinking alcohol when I’m out in a pub unless it were to be marked as a special occasion, I don’t remember drinking any alcohol since New Year’s Day. As I was at home I had a fun and enjoyable night watching fireworks display as well as watching and listening to Jools Holland (I think it is called a Hootenanny, no idea why it is called that). I remember on the last New Year’s Eve show they had Emeli Sande, the Dubliners and a couple of others. I took a bottle of baileys and fetched a wine glass and mixed Baileys and Milk and it turns out to be very nice drink.  It was funny on one occasion at uni some of the people I was with were trying to get me drunk on St Patrick’s day but they did get me as far as being tipsy, I haven’t had a Guinness since that day because I’m only capable of drinking half a pint and it doesn’t taste very nice.

I’m pleased that Ryan Giggs is still playing for Manchester United, not just because of the team itself but he is able to be still motivated ,keeps himself fit everyday and get picked for matches. I saw the match between United and Leverkusen and Giggsy totally outclassed the opposition. I can’t think of anyone over the age of 40 apart from Sachin who recently retired at this day in age has played competitive professional sports and maintained a legacy in the world of sport.
